To Mom and Dad

A Precious Memory

I can remember looking for my father one night. I looked all over the house before I finally found him in the closet upstairs. He was in the back corner praying. I shut the door quietly  so he wouldn’t know that I saw him. But I did see him. And, I knew he was praying for my sister and I to be saved. I didn’t know then, but this was a precious memory that I would remember forever. That was in 1969. A short time later, my sister was saved. Thirty one years later, in 2001, I was saved. It didn't take God  31 years to save me. It took me that long to get myself in a condition whereby I could be saved.

So if you have prayed for someone for many years without having your prayers answered, don't give up. My parents never gave up. And after 31 years their prayers were answered with both children being saved.

What a blessing from God, to have parents that pray for their children. Praise be to God, for answering prayer.

Precious Memories

Precious memories, unseen angels
Sent from somewhere to my soul
How they linger, ever near me
And the sacred scenes unfold.

Precious memories, how they linger
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness of the midnight
Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

Precious father, loving mother
Fly across the lonely years
And old home scenes of my childhood
In fond memory appear.

In the stillness of the midnight
Echoes from the past I hear
Old-time singing, gladness bringing
From that lovely land somewhere.

I remember mother praying
Father, too, on bended knee
Sun is sinking, shadows falling
But their prayers still follow me.

As I travel on life's pathway
Know not what the years may hold
As I ponder, hope grows fonder
Precious memories flood my soul.
